Dr. Ben Miners
Senior Director, Emerging Technologies
Intelligent Mechatronic Systems, Inc. (IMS)
Dr. Ben Miners leads the transformation of emerging technologies and research into practical solutions to help make vehicles safer, smarter, and greener. He leverages synergies between innovative human-machine-interfaces and automated machine-to-machine communication to create intuitive, user-centric platforms. Effectively bridging the human-machine gap is critical to deliver diverse solutions and advanced applications from intelligent transportation and route planning to voice-interactive content, usage-based insurance, real-time behavioural feedback, and connected vehicle solutions. A user-centric approach is embraced to deliver high quality experiences within the vehicle and beyond, often involving advanced sensing and visualization combined with voice, vision, touch, and other natural forms of human interaction.
Over the last decade, Dr. Miners led advanced research and development activities related to intelligent interfaces that seamlessly integrate human, machine, and vehicle. He brings together extensive engineering and management experience with a user-centric perspective to catalyze and harness innovation throughout R&D processes. At Intelligent Mechatronic Systems (IMS), he provides strategic development and technology leadership to advance multidisciplinary teams along forward-looking paths to simultaneously meet current and next-generation objectives. Before joining IMS, he focused on a number of successful automation engineering activities in the transportation, logistics, process optimization, and remote monitoring fields involving highly usable interfaces, advanced sensing, high speed data collection, warehousing, analysis and intuitive visualization.
Dr. Miners holds a doctorate in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada and is a licensed professional engineer.
