CAR Has Decided Not to Convene the 2012 Business of Plugging In
After discussion with key vehicle manufacturers and other event stakeholders, the Center for Automotive Research (CAR) has decided not to convene the 2012 Business of Plugging In (BPI). The CAR conference team would like to thank attendees, speakers, sponsors and partners who made BPI an outstanding and successful event over the past three years.
The goal of BPI is to highlight the challenges and opportunities of creating a viable PEV business model—a challenge that continues to create problems for many PEV start-ups and early products.  CAR sees this challenge—and yes, even opportunity—continuing, and is actively researching the topic. However, many of the key stakeholders in BPI indicated they wished to instead focus efforts on technology development.
CAR continues to evaluate advanced powertrain technology trends, and will work to offer events that reflect the needs of industry stakeholders.  For example, the Advanced Powertrain Forum at the CAR Management Briefing Seminars (MBS), August 6-10, Traverse City, MI, will include a session focused on the plug in electric vehicle technologies as part of a broader look at powertrain technology and strategy. Registration for MBS is now open at cargroup.org.
Again, thank you for your interest and support during the last three years. Please feel free to give me call if you wish to further discuss BPI, or other PEV activities at CAR.
Sincerely,
Brett Smith
Co-Director, Manufacturing, Engineering and Technology, Center for Automotive Research
